Hi Chaps,

I've been considering one of the very earliest Touaregs as a tow vehicle for the OH's horse trailer (MAM about 2300kg).

Some problems have been reported - propshaft bearing, camshaft failure, transmission woes etc. If I'm hunting around the very bottom of the market, does it seem likely that one (or more!) of these issues will be present - or would they possibly have been fixed under warranty at some point?

It wouldn't be a 'daily driver', so fuel consumption isn't an issue.

I'd probably go for a Grand Cherokee you'll get a better car for your outlay.

Just doing the prop on my Cayenne it lasted 80k, recon shaft with new bearing is £350 inc vat and 1.5 hours labour. If you can handle the fuel bill checkout a Cayenne petrol before committing to a Treg diesel
