Hi there,

I need a little advice.

I'm one of the daft ones that got lured in by a 5k lease, even though I do 10-15k!

I have a MK7.5 GTI, just wondering, what should I expect the monthlies to increase by?

I got a 3+23 deal, £270pm inc VAT... 5kpa.

Should I be expecting a massive increase or not? Do you think it would be wise to wait until the second year of the lease to up the mileage or might it be too late?

Thanks,

Read this thread it seems you can end the agreement early with no penalties:

I'd wager the OP has a PCH deal. VT doesn't apply to PCH

What is your excess mileage cost per mile? Have you done the calculation on what it would cost to hand it back and pay the excess mileage charge?

They wont be adjusting your payments mid-term unless you call them and ask them to

Yeah I get that... I just wondered if anyone had done anything similar and what the rough additional costs were?

I'm wondering whether I need to buy a runabout for work!

You need to find out what their excess mileage charges are & then you can workout if it's cheaper to buy/insure & run another car or just pay the charges.

Every lease company is different, and they will also differ between contracts for the same lease company.

Some make it cheaper to add mileage at the halfway point than it would have been at the start of the lease, and also cheaper than the excess at the end.

For some it might not be, you will have to make your own calculations on what you find out.

Call the broker who did the deal, rather than ALD direct.

I've got a Mk7 GTi from ALD on the 5k deal at £252/month. I'm about 3k over after a year, but at 5p a mile excess (up to 10k over total term, then the price increases a little), this only works out at a £150 penalty per year. You've not mentioned your excess mileage costs, but that'll make all the difference.

As previously mentioned, speak to the broker first. They should be able to advise.
