E39 Alpina B10 4.6 or E46 M3?

As the title suggests, I’ve narrowed down the field (I think) to the above two cars. Always fancied a manual E46 M3, but equally, I love the E39 and in Alpina ‘spec’ it’s a rare and tempting proposition.It will be second car, so something to polish, enjoy meets and some early morning drives. The E46 probably has the edge in terms of point to point, but I understand that the Alpina auto box is great to use and then there’s that V8 burble (although I equally live a ‘six’
What would you go for and why? - Budget is around £14000

I would take the Alpina personally. It's rare and likely to do better value wise in the long term, albeit E46 M3s are climbing in value now as well.

If it was going to be a daily, I'd say Alpina.

But as a second car, so something to enjoy driving... I feel you have to go manual (maybe rather dinosaur of me). So in light of it being a weekend, play time car... E46 M3 (only if manual).
