Buying a new-to-me car, what needed

It has been a while since I bought a second hand car, and the first ever from a private seller other than my parents some 27 years ago!.

I am happy with the car I have found, its straight and deposit paid.

I have insurance sorted and ready to go when I am ready to collect, but what else do I need to do before collection. Especially as the Tax system has changed now, so I need to get a years tax on it and any outstanding tax goes back to the seller.

I would also like to put my personal plate on it, can I do this from the moment I collect and insure it, broker has suggested that it is possible.

Anything I have missed to be able to pick it up and drive it home.
