Anything petrol & Japanese.
I do love my 106 diesel but it’s not been without fault-I’ve had to replace the head gasket & heater matrix-it costs buttons to run, resists rust and is actually a laugh but if you want something unburstable then your suggestions might be better.
Saying that-it’s never let me down, it’s just the oil leak and lack of hot air were starting to irritate a tad!

I’ve found myself in a bit of bother and need a little reliable runaround for a while.
No more than £1,500. I do 20 miles daily.
I was looking at Yaris’ and civics.
Any other cars I should consider?

I bought an '04 clio 1.5 dci in June as a stop gap.
It had 12 months MOT, was recently serviced and some new bits and bobs, battery, alternator etc. Cost £600, and have done 30 miles a day in it since without it missing a beat. Can't get the MPG to drop below 54.
Only negative I can think of is coming from running an E46 M3 daily, its been a battle not killing myself out of sheer boredom.

20 miles a day? You'll need something at least five metres long, with at least a three litre engine mated to an auto gearbox, heated/cooled massage seats, auto headlights, adaptive cruise and a twenty speaker stereo system.
Or, to slip out of PBCD mode for a second, a Yaris is a very good idea. The family Irrelevant has one that has now done almost 130,000 miles without any drama, and which shows no signs of stopping yet. A quick look at Autotrader shows that you can easily find one with half that many miles for your budget.

Yes, buy a Fiat Sedici in petrol flavour.
It's a Suzuki under the skin, nice little chain driven engine. Real offroad capability were it to get snowy.
Miss mine
I literally had never heard of these until your post. It's a Suzuki under the skin, nice little chain driven engine. Real offroad capability were it to get snowy.

Looks like something that one could stick winter tyres on and then run through the worst of a snowy winter without issue.
