Lightly modified/tuned MX5 or similar. Help me find one?

There seem to be quite a few “light” tuners out there. Such as BBR for Mazda, Lohen for Mini and Litchfield for Subaru BRZ for example.
I am thinking of buying a light (preferably RWD) sportscar for summer and want to keep my budget to £15,000. The stock cars look nice, but I just want to try going down the tuner route for a little more power and handling.
I am not looking for crazy BHP or spoilers that scrape the ground, but something with character and a little bit special as a result of some extra touches.
I am hoping to buy a car that has been “sorted” already with these enhancements, but I was hoping I could get some guidance on what car to consider and what modifications, PH would recommend.
I am starting from a clean slate here. Happy to consider any make or model as long as it’s small (so nothing much bigger than a BRZ really) and great fun!
I look forward to some weird and wonderful suggestions.
First-hand experience or what I am getting into, would be ace too.
