Hi, i recently joined Pistonheads Forums to see if i could gauge an idea as to what to buy next.

Im partial to the VAG group having owned a fair few myself but as im getting older insurance is coming down giving me more options.

My situation; I currently have a Raptor 700R as ive never owned anything like it for the road aswell as having a work van which inclued personal use, ive currently been without a car since my MK5 R32 for about a year now!

Somehow, i always seem to revert back to looking at the Pre-Face Scirocco R's, even after looking at MK7 GTI's, MK6 R's and GTI's.. Since the car will be a 'toy' as such, i dont want to spend a penny over £15k. But im also in a mind of buying somthing older and cheaper and have more money to turn it into a weapon, but nothing ive found really reaches out to me!

Just after some opinions and ideas! I have a friend with a Mk1 LCR @ 300HP which is fun but now ive seen it built it takes away the enjoyment of me doing it. Is it worth having another R32? MK5 GTI and turbo convert it? Wait for a boosted R32 to come up for sale? Go down a different route?

HELP!

Get yourself a played with Megane RS they're a cracking car.

This would be my pick a Lux with the Cup Chassis Recaros & 350bhp

Or get yourself a clean RS265 & then take it to K-Tec for a little bit of fettling.

VAG products are good at what they do but the RS's are a better drivers car, or you could buy another R32 or you could go & hunt down the Passat R36 & then Supercharge it.

i just cant see myself owning a Renault frown
its not just me being a snob, i just genuinely dont like the look of any Renault range!

Never considered a Passat to be honest. Although either one boosted should be interesting, thought i cant help thinking the golf will be a more interesting driver..

but again then its onto the newer stuff, Rocco R's and MK6 Golf R's! frown

I wouldn't have said any VAG cars are particularly entertaining to drive, maybe try a Megane or even Focus ST and see what they are like from the drivers seat, after all you don't notice the looks from the inside.

The Megane will drive better out of the box than most VAG cars.

A 2011 Scirocco R will cost about 15k. My 61 plate 250 cost me 10k and has every option ticked. Leather Recaros, Pano roof, Privacy glass, Met paint, Cup chassis etc.

You may not like the look of them, I didn't initially, but they're quite rare on the road, and they do look pretty good in the flesh. They're all about the drive though, get a drive in one, and get it on a B road in sport mode. Bearing in mind it's a 9 year old design, they're up there with the latest and greatest.
