I'd say the Mondeo in Ecoboost form would be a good shout, it'll take 3 children with ease whereas 330/C Class/IS250 will be a little tight:

Or the Mazda6 in 2.5 N/A form are another good call:

Thanks for the links.... Don't think i'd be happy with a ford. Honda civic is looking like an option at the minute

No problem what's wrong with a Ford? They're all as well built as each other these days.

If you don't mind the kids being in a bit of a squeeze then yes the Civic is a decent shout, also take a look at the Mazda3:

I've just never had any luck with fords, I don't know anyone who has really? They're not comparable to a honda for reliablity still?

I had an is220d, loved it. Just not ideal for the mrs with saloon boot and fixed rears that you can't drop.

Fair enough, yes they're very reliable but as always when buying used it will be dependent on how well the previous owner has maintained it.

well apples and oranges here -22d v is250; I had a 250 and it was great, I get what you are saying about less than ideal rear leg room and a small boot but other than that its almost perfect for a family saloon.
