10k Budget - Trading in the Scirocco and maybe the Mrs Polo

I am getting married next year and we all now what happens next. So will be in the market for a more family orientated car.

We are debating whether to keep the Scirocco (2010) or the Polo (2012) and add a family car.

I have been looking at a few options including a BMW 1 Series F20 M sport (5 door of course), BMW X1 and Audi A3 S line and would like something from 2012 on.

We could stretch to 12k and would like to go for the sportier spec in the range.

Does anyone have any experience with the 3 above cars and would anyone be able to recommend an alternative.

I would like a little bit of performance but not too much for the other half.

I would say, dont do anything until you know you are expecting, otherwise you maybe getting rid of fun cars you enjoy and prematurely going to a family bus...

you'll have 7/9 months to plan for car change.
