Hi, thinking of buying a commuting hack/station snotter, will be doing 40 miles a day so worthy of Derv.
Not keen on a modern diesel with all the DMF/DPF/EGR issues, seems the PD engines are robust and less prone to issues...... true?

I can see around 2004 the Mk5 Golf came out and had the 1.9 TDi engine until about 2006/7. Seems also there is a 2.0 introduced around the 2004/5 era, I assume this is not the 'PD' variant.

So, after some help please! is it possible to buy a Mk5 with the 1.9 PD engine, but without all the emission systems rubbish. or is every Mk5 got the dreaded DPF/DMF and the only way to avoid is a late Mk4.

Reason I ask is, personal view, the Mk5 is a significantly sharper looking car and hides its age well, interior looks better too.

Thanks is Advance, Adam.

A quick google search will show you that no UK Mk5 1.9 or 2.0 140HP came with the DPF.
The only one to come with DPF is the BMN 2.0 170.

DPF deletes are cheap anyway.

I'd go for a BKC engined car an earlier model. SE come with good spec. You can upgrade everything else easily (EG retrofit Bluetooth, Sat nav, highline dashboard etc).

BKC is an engine code.

Usually in the 04-07 models. Then they changed to BXE.

BXE is reliable but some seem to throw rods for some reason.
