Anyone owned or know someone who has had a Volvo S60 or V60 2010 onwards, would like to know what it's like to live with.

I've only test driven one briefly so it would be nice to have some insight into long term ownership

Have a look in "my garage"... (V60 D5, in my care from 2012-14)

Yeah, I've got one. Same as the poster above - V60 D5.

Good underated cars in my opinion. Myriad of engines and outputs to choose from depending on year. Most will be good spec. Go for SE lux or r-design at a minimum. R-design will have the more sportier suspension but will also have a harder ride as a consequence. I have a SE lux which is a more pliable ride but my 18" wheels sort of cancel that out. frown but fk it, they look nice smile

Don't expect BMW levels of handling but it is a safe and predictable and the legendary seats Volvo are famous for are super comfy (and heated!). Nice place to pound the motorways.

Interior, while getting a little dated compared to newer stuff, is still a nice place to be and crappy plastics are kept to a minimum. It's more a 'lifestyle' estate rather than a true load lugger so check you can live with a compromised boot size (although I find it plenty big enough for me)

If a geartronic - a little ponderous when cold but does the job for a 6sp. Run away if you detect any clonking though. Known and expensive fix if this happens.

It's a heavy car and can go through tyres and brakes. You'll probably be replacing either front or rear pads virtually every service. Economy on my D5 (215bhp) is around mid 40s but I do mostly DC or motorways. My engine is getting on a bit design wise, and the newer 4cyl diesels are better on the go-juice.

Had mine just over a year now and nothing has gone wrong. Dealers seem alright but they are quite expensive.

Overall, I like it. Does the job compentently and without fuss.

Which model are you looking at?

Looking at a 2011 R-Design D3 Manual, has the 5 cylinder 2 litre engine?

Has all the equipment, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, also has the 7 inch screen and front and rear parking sensors and also camera.

I run a V60 D5 SE Lux auto and can pretty much echo all the comments above.

I use an indy for servicing as franchised Volvo dealers like to charge... I'll also add that suspension bushings are almost a consumable as well as the appetite for front tyres. The suspension bushes are a sod to change according to my mechanic so are not cheap to get done.

I like it. As above it isn't as rewarding to drive as a three series but I'd rather live with my V60 day in, day out. The seats are very comfortable, kit is good (mine has zenons, sunroof, heated leather, DAB, bluetooth that actually works all the time, every time, NAV that can be upgraded over the net etc etc). The only thing mine hasn't got that I'd like is radar cruise but it's no big deal.

The boot isn't huge but for us (2 children under 12 and a medium sized dog) it never feels too small, we have a roof box if we need extra space for luggage. Economy averages around 40, it'll easily do 45+ on a run.

I'll keep it for a good few years, it's just rolled over 72,000 miles and still feels solid.

I'm probably going to do around 15,000-20,000 miles a year, so will the suspension bushings be a problem?

My rear bushes have just been done at 70,000 miles so not an everyday occurrence.

They cost just over £300 but that was for parts, labour and I also had the brake pads done at the same time..

Our family car and my wife's commuter is a 13 reg V60 D3 with the 136bhp 2.0d engine.

Its the SE Business edition and it's perfect for what we use it for.

Great seats as all Volvos, engine is ok, not that refined low down but once up to speed very quiet and averages 50+ mpg
Ride is good with the smaller wheels ours has. Not sure what it's like with larger wheels on the R Design.

Sat Nav is ok but it's not used much.

Standard stereo is good but DAB is patchy compared to my Leaf.

Boot space good enough for 3 large suit cases and 5 hand luggage bags to the airport last month.

Kids fit ok in the back (17, 15 & 11)
They didn't complain too much at the 2 hour journey to the airport.

Overall I'd give it a thumbs up.
