Hi guys

Just wanted to check to see if i had perhaps lost my mind. I have owned my e91 320d msport touring for 5 years. fab car, not missed a beat. tyres and diesel is all its asked for. Bought it for family duty stuff, kids a little older and was looking to get back in to something less boring. The 320d is now 7 years old and has 77k miles on it. Its worth about £6700 on a good day. Now we are not in the position that I want to spend money buying something expensive just now, but in maybe a year or two I will. So looking to do a swap or near abouts. Max input would be £2000. Now I have had a massive soft spot for a MK4 r32 forever. However i think the moment is passed and I am struggling to find a good one. All seem to have been trashed. Dream R32 is Tornado red 3 door. Looking through autotrader I have seen a few low miles mk1 tts. They are starting to look like they are on the way up. classic design and cool little cars. There is a dark grey with saffron leather 3.2q DSG with 35K miles, looks as new.

Would i be crazy to do it? the TT is a 2005 car. Will I kick myself later? should I just keep my BMW and wait for the want to change to pass?

Any other suggestions always welcome. Need to be able to stick 2 carseats on isofix in the rear for those just in case situations.

help!

The Mk1 3.2s are nice don't get me wrong but quite dull to be honest.
You'd also be disappointed by the performance. But they do sound really nice, and luckily most spare parts are pretty cheap . Check the Haldex system has been serviced appropriately.

that era dsg has the mechatronics units failing fairly often, I would be careful......

I know about the engine, not exactly set the world alight, but I do love the sound. Just worried that it all ends up costing me a fortune if there are things that go pop. No matter how low the miles are its still a 12 year old car! other than the DSG mechatronic thing and I know about the chain drive that needs checked anything else that is specific to the TT?
