Hi all,
I was wondering if you can offer me some advice..
So with this car leasing company, I had put through an application to lease a BMW 430d M Sport Gran Coupe.
The paperwork on my end was all complete and the deal was pretty much done and from my point of view, I was just waiting for the call to pay the processing fee.
My finance via Lex Autolease got auto approved and everything seemed to be going fine, however I got a call last week from the leasing company broker saying that there has been a mistake on Lex’s end, and instead of a 430d, I have a car assigned to me which is a 430i, the petrol variant.
Obviously in all paperwork between me and them it’s quite clearly a 430d I want and agreed on, and I dont want the 430i. To top it off there arent any more 430d GC’s left “in stock” in the UK, so I can’t get one of them now either...
Where do I stand in this, can I put in a complaint and escalate this do you guys think? Technically does the leasing company/Lex have to source me a 430d GC as it is what was originally wanted and apparently “confirmed” to me by my leasing company? Who is at fault here?

If there are no 430d's left in the country then I'm assuming you wouldn't have had one even if Lex hadn't screwed up?
Doesn't sound like there is much to be gained by pursuing this, swallow you disappointment and as mentioned try your luck with other brokers / dealers for cancelled orders.

No money exchanged as of current, no. At the time of me putting the deal through (signing paperwork etc) that was very early on when this 430d GC deal came about and there was availability on that particular model however.
I am always on the look out, however that car was perfect for me budget + insurance wise hence the desire to pick that particular one. It’s just really confusing that Lex would mistakenly put me down for a 430i than a 430d?
Why should I have to suffer for their errors?

I’ve driven the 30d engine and it is incredible. The 30i is a 4 pot 2 litre, and in my eyes just not a worthy upgrade for the money (admittedly it would be lower per month than the 30d but not by much) when knowing how fast and torquey the 3 litre diesel issilver1011 said:

And nothing I suppose, apart from it will cost them way more and inevitably will cost me more too
'Them' as in your point of contact, that's all that really matters.
Someone along the chain has screwed up, it shouldn't really matter to you who, you've employed the services of the leasing company. Or have you directly instructed Lex too?
I reckon it is the only bargaining chip you have, you ordered a car, regardless of if there is stock readily available or one needs ordering from the factory they will be able to either honor the deal or not.
To honor the deal they'll need to order a car. I'm not sure why this will be more expensive (unless BMW UK are discounting existing UK stock to clear it), the only issue for you on a factory order should be a longer lead-time.
Either way, your broker will either suck up the difference or squirm out of it if the original deal can't be honoured (with a factory order) and them still make a profit.

Nailed it in the brackets! It's stock cars that were discounted and it seems somehow they messed up and now the 30d's are gone.Whilst I'm annoyed for you and I'd be livid in your situation, I don't think you've really got any case to pursue them as the order's not been placed yet. If they had placed the order (after you paid their fee) and the wrong car turned up then it might be a different story.
