Just wondered if anyone has had experience of the Renault/Nissan 2.0dCi 150PS engine at these mileages - covered in 7-8 years.

The alternative is the Volvo D5 lump - either the 163PS pre-DPF or later 185PS with DPF....

I have a 2007/57 Laguna with this engine.

Bought 9 months ago with 95,000 miles and now at 115,000 miles. Gave it an oil/filter change when I got it and have had no problems at all so far.

100 miles a day round trip to work with 70 on motorway and 30 on country roads/bit of town and it hovers around 50mpg.

6 speed manual gearbox and the car is a useable if slightly boring daily driver.

Go for the D5 engine.

Have had 2 XC90s both with the 185bhp versions and they were 100% reliable over a total mileage of approx. 40k miles even with hard use (towing 1500 kg caravan, 5 up with bikes on roof).

Will be pretty economical if in the S40/S60.
