Hey there guys!
Well I'll make it somewhat short here. The wife is sorta pushing for a different car because we have a baby on the way. This was somewhat unexpected but we are excited. Either way her car is fine, she has a quad cab Colorado. But all I have is a very unsafe, barely running f100 farm truck and a mustang. I just bought the mustang. It's a 2017 ecoboost. At the time it was a good decision but now we are expecting a kid 4 doors and a back seat would be nice. I like my mustang but I gotta do what I gotta do. So I'm looking at getting something different. So maybe y'all can give me some suggestions. It's gotta be baby-friendly and decently reliable. Slightly higher miles and age aren't a concern. Other than my mustang the newest car I've ever had was a 1994. But I also don't really want to give up my sports car so something with decent performance and a 3 pedals is also a must. Is there anything that fits this bill at all?
Thanks guys

Why do you need a bigger car? Babies are tiny! Mine fits comfortably in the back of my Audi S5 and all his kit goes in the boot with ease. Isofix on 3 seats (is that a thing in the US?) too.

I don't really understand why you are looking to change.

A 2017 mustang will be fine to fit in a rear baby seat. As baby gets older there are no electric rear windows to play with or door handles to pull wink
I have an estate car but that was to take the Doberman and Boston terror out and about. My little girl prefers the 3 door though smile

Well an s5 is a sedan isn't it? Audi yeah? I live in Oklahoma. You don't see many of those around here. Audi and bimmers only get driven by rich folk around here haha.
I'm just kiddin. I like BMW quite a bit. But they don't fit the bill of reliable in any sense.
As for why I am considering something else, the backseat in a mustang is very small. Mustangs are 2 door sports cars. The back seats are a joke. The back of my seat touches the front of the back seat

As above: hang on to the Mustang, at least to see how it goes. If we have a baby then my wife plans to keep her three door CTR. If you've got a dodgy back or something, then leaning through to the back with a baby might be tricky, but I'm sure it's possible. Push-chairs needn't be those huge things with massive treaded wheels that you see everyone with; you can still buy a simple ordinary push chair that'll fold and go in the boot of a Mustang easily, with room left over for nappies, baby food etc. There are people on here with babies and 911s (there's a particular make of push chair that fits - it's often discussed), so I'm sure a Mustang will be fine. Besides, most babies love a good V8 smile

Well overunder I'd tell ya but I don't think that sorta talk is proper on here wink
Haha

Yeah that's why I said a 15k budget. If I can't find something that fits everything then I will keep the mustang and make it work. But I told the wife I'd consider it. So I am. But I don't know everything. So I figured I'd ask
As far as I know a wrx is really about it but they are expensive and I don't care too much for awd. Rear wheel is kinda a necessity.

Well either way I figured I'd get an opinion or two. Work is slow today anyway.

Most people on here are UK based so won't have any idea about most US mainstream cars, unless they're sold here..

That said, given the amount of stuff we accumulate just to go on holiday, I'll go with: Suburban! Good luck

I sorta found that out too late haha. I prolly wouldn't have posted anything if I knew this was primarily a U.K. Site. Yalls stuff is different from ours. You guys get the good bimmers!
Ah well. I appreciate the input anyhow. Even if y'all don't know about good gravy and bacon wink
Haha. Well thanks.

First baby does not mean you must have a much bigger car. When brat number one came along we were happily tootling about in a Porsche 911 and a Vauxhall Calibra.

Where people go wrong with the first baby is - they don't know what you need and actually buy too much.

As she was our first born, brat one had top of the range pram, pushchair, baby bags, travel cots and we ended up leaving lots of it at home and bought smaller stuff for taking in the car. We never compromised on car seats though.

When the next version of brat (brat number two) came along we just went for convenient and compact straight away.

what about a subaru forester STI?

depending on your state's import laws that might be doable...basically a more practical impreza.

Not actually sure you guys got a USDM forester STI...but i'm guessing not. Would you drive a "right hooker"?

No, mine is a 2 door coupe, same as your Mustang. I'm quite proud that the little guys first trip in a vehicle was in a 360bhp V8 engined coupe. This will of course mean nothing in 17 years when he's learning to passenger a fully electric autonomous 'vehicle'.

I actually had a right hand drive 240sx back in my teenage years.
But. Yeah I don't think we ever got a forester sti.
I may just end up sayin f it and buyin a cts-v. You can get one of those for like 10 Gs over here. And the ls engine is very reliable.
Do you cats have holden over there? Or is that just Australia?

By the by who makes vauxhall? Is that it's own brand or does it have a parent company?

Vauxhall are rebadged Opels (used to be owned by General Motors until they sold it in 2017 to Groupe PSA. (Peugeot)

I have owned the following cars in the years I have had kids... (they are now 4 and 8 years old)

1991 MX5
MINI Clubman S
and now an E92 (Coupe) 330i.

No issues!
