my car finally died today Its a remapped mondeo ST TDCI with 180Bhp.

I had it since 2010 so ive been out the game for a while, so im not sure what to look for next! I would like it to be not to old! family car as 2 kids, big boot but I also want something I can have some fun with, Im 36 full NCB, IAM and other driving qualifications so not to worried about insurance costs etc

My current thoughts are a BMW 535d estate or Octavia VRS (petrol) 2013 model both could be had for around 9 - 10k.

just wondered if anyone had any other suggestions that might fit the bill or experienced the above cars, I had the pleasure of driving a brand new 535d xdrive last week and thought the engine was a peach but not driven the vrs.
thanks
si

535d every time for me, lovely bit of kit.

at 9-10k you are into leggy, older car territory, as long as you have a bork fund and arent doing massive miles id go for one.

I'm probably at about 8to 10k miles a year so not massive at all. I haven't properly worked out my finances so may be able to go a little more but in my head 9 to 10 seems about right.

At 8-10k per year I'd say look for a petrol you might just run into trouble with the diesel, but there are some great cars out there if you hunt around.

Insignia VXR these are underrated & a map really brings them to life not that a 300bhp+ car is going to be boring:

BMW 535i SE very good car but the engine can throw up a bill every now & then.

Mercedes E500 Sport 5.5 V8 with nearly 400bhp bulletproof drivetrain

Passat R36

Jaguar XF 4.2 N/A Premium Luxury (these are rare but well worth seeking out)

Leftfield:

Audi S6 (these aren't cheap to run but seem to be rewarding) there's a readers car thread on one of these

A more sensible option is the Mondeo Titanium X Sport it's a better steer than the VRS & just as reliable, they also seem to hold their money well.

The value for money option is the Insignia 2.0T with 250bhp you'll struggle to beat them with mileage/age/spec/bhp.

I'd agree that at that mileage you would be best off with a petrol.

No problem if there's anything you'd like to know about a particular model then feel free to ask.
