Current have a 05 130i which i am using for business mileage but getting fedup of the small fuel tank and 25mpg. estimated business mileage is 14k looking for a car for around 3 to 3.5k. toying with the idea either e90 330d or e60 530d.

Will be mostly being doing multiple short journeys with some longer distances of 20+ miles.

Hoping for around 40mpg but looking for some performace aswell.

any other recommendation would be appricated.

If you like BMWs (which it sounds like you do), then going for a car fitted with the firm's venerable 3.0 straight six diesel will most likely satisfy your need for both performance and economy.

Are you willing to look at cars from other manufacturers? Not that there's anything wrong with BMWs, but if you're stuck on them, there's little point in ZX10R NIN doing a superb car buying post with lots of other cars listed. laugh

I average 43ish in my 330d and that’s mixed driving, so that should meet your needs.

Get yourself one of these:

It'll see 40mpg easy & you'll have a tank that'll see 6-700 miles on a 80mph cruise, most E60/90 will have starship mileages which doesn't make them or any other car with 140k+ would make the best bet for 14k a year, but you can find the odd good car.

BMW 530d (no disrespect to the people of Birmingham but I'd thoroughly check this car out) M Sport
