Hi Folks,

I've come to the realisation that the S3 must go, I know it's not exactly an AMG/RS but I need to get the girlfriend driving and insurance is not happening in that.

So what car - she wants something which can be driven on an auto licence, needs to be bigger than an S3 (child bits) 5 Door and vaguely insurable for a new driver (she is over 30 so not sure how much dif that makes really).

Budget is 6-8k (Blame that on buying a house)

Is there anything vaguely PH worthy that meet those criteria? Do older Octavia VRS come with auto/DSG?

I think for me the main question is do I try for a DSG type or just go full auto barge style. I thinking the budget isn't huge. Other than hand in my PH card, thoughts?

Legacy (available in various flavours - mine's a JDM twinscroll turbo GT, Bilstein suspension as standard, plenty of PH points (avoid the diesels...), also auto, plenty of head and leg room and a decent size boot, going on massive with the back seats down. )

Interesting that looks good. I did drive a legacy gtb a while back and tbh it felt a bit anodyne for me (used to have a Impreza sti ppp)

What else might meet the criteria?

Get one of these:

they're a good steer loaded with kit, insurance should be reasonable.

Or this but I'm not sure they're as insurance friendly as the above.
