Banger MX5 or BMW

I need to cut down on my cars. Got way too many.

Current situation is the Mrs has a Golf TDI which is perfect for her and we have a Polo GTI.

The Golf will go or be used as a courtesy car at some point.

I don't need anything fancy to get to work at all it's a couple of miles. I can use my van or recovery truck no problem but I need to be able to collect customers cars and leave a car there.

Now I've got an off road Jimny that never gets used ever. It's a shame and I don't want to sell it but I'm going to have to.

I can't use it for customers cars as it's a bad image and I'd be terrified non stop of bits getting nicked off it.

So I'm going to sell it and stick a max of a grand into something.

I was thinking a Clip 172 but decided I want something RWD.

So it's either an E36 or E46 or an MX5.

I've always wanted an MX5. The BMW is way more practical but I just don't need practical I've got a Range Rover for that.

I dont mind any work at all we're a garage at the end of the day just wondering from experience would you go German or Japanese?

Variety is key in my book and an MX5 is about the polar opposite of a Range Rover.

Get a clean BMW/Mercedes that's not rusting like the MX5 will be or look at the MR2
