Looking for a little advice.

It looks like we are expecting our third little one and my practical mind is spinning with how we are going to transport them all!

We currently have a B6 Passat are without some serious origami there is no way to fit three seats in the back. I am reluctant to go down the MPV route unless we really have to. Does anyone have any experience of fitting 3 in the back of a CAR and if so which one.

The children will 5, 3 and 0. (gulp)

I am thinking maybe Volvo V70 third gen sub 5000 gbp?

Any advice would be great.

A friend in the same scenario bought a v70 as the best option. Look for ones with the central child seat built in too

Why not 1 child in front and an adult sandwiched in the middle of the rear using the middle belt. Ok its not ideal but it negates buying a new / specific motor.

in the passat that would be very difficult.

I was thinking of trading in the car anyway as i expect some large bills are looming....

Ours are a bit older (8,7,4) and all in forward facing seats, we have a mk4 clio rs and can get the seats across the back without much hassle

We ended up with a vw t5 kombi - been absolutely brilliant!

Other friends have discoveries (works well) volvo xc (slight squeeze) and a kia sportage (no chance!)

Thinking about it, very few of our friends actually have cars now - definately none with 3 kids anyway!

Been there, there is no "car" which is going to be hassle free, sorry but the answer is a Ford Smax, good news is it's probably not as bad as you think.

Three abreast works in a Discovery 3/4 and you can also fit proper adults in seats 6&7. Less depressing than an MPV as they have some merit as a petrolhead’s car but the running costs can be hard on the wallet!

Won’t fit in an XC60. Maybe an xc90 but won’t have central isofix IIRC.

I don't think a Multimac is what you think it is...

If you want 3 ISOFIX connections it's s max/ galaxy or an XC90.

Might depend on how big your 5 year old is, they might fit in the middle of 2 seats in a stage 3 booster on a lap belt if they still need anything at all...

I think when someone posted a similar question a while ago, there was a link posted to a 3 in 1 seat, as in 3 cold seats all booked together that fitted across the seats as one piece. Cant remember what it was called but might be worth a Google.

I've done 5 people in a car with 2 in child seats in the back. I was not using iso as the seats can be pushed further out from the centre giving the adult in the middle more room. Many iso seats can be used without iso.

in the exactly the same situation as you 4 years ago, we had a citroen picasso (for school runs etc, hateful car, but needs dictated it's purchase at the time) and an audi a3. all 3 kids fitted in the back of the a3, just not as easily as the picasso. ages were 5,3 and 0. then after a couple of years we sold the picasso and still have the a3.
