I can’t shake an itch
Discussion
Afternoon all,
I can’t shake an itch that I’ve had for a few years. I really want to buy a e60 M5.
I’ve currently got a glorious Mercedes C350 Coupe (petrol) which has all the bells and whilstles and I love it, but . . . I keep finding myself looking at M5’s. Same money but older with a lot less tech etc.
Should I? Shouldn’t I?

You only get one shot at life.... I recently bought an M6 (E63).
Get one under 60k miles & put the Mondial warranty on it (£113/mo for me at 50k miles).
Average mpg is 10 around town, 20 on the motorway. Gearbox is only really poor when shuffling back and forward to park - drive it in M5 mode all the time (and 6 on banzai days), slight throttle lift when changing gear & it’s fine.
Costs (ignoring depeciation for the moment) are in the region of £1.50 / mile (though I’ve spent £1100 on tyres & an ipod kit that weren’t strictly necessary (Actually the tyres were, anyone who puts Accelera Phi tyres on this sort of car is either an idiot, or a drift supremo).
There are quicker cars, sure, but nothing (for the money) comes close for sheer entertainment in my view. I do also have another car for day-to-day running though.
Basically, there won’t ever be another engine like it, it’s an itch that is worth scratching!
Here’s why...
