Not so hot hatchback
Discussion
Hello
I'm 18 and with my insurance coming to end soon I want a new hot (ish) hatchback that has the sporty styling of such cars like the Civic Type R, Fiesta ST, Audi A1 etc but without this level of power because as you can imagine the insurance companies aren't too keen.
Originally I was looking at Fiesta Zetec S's but I'm having difficulties finding one in worth the money.
I've been looking at things like the Polo R, Hyundai I30, Audi A1 but they're all above my budget.
Could you recommend anything else?
Thanks Adam

We have just had a very similar thread called warm hatchback worth a read although the OP hasn't accounted himself very well.
If you are willing to have an older car you can get a lot for your money. EP3s are very cheap now and very rated. Also I did considerable research into clio 197s which are also very good. A good one can be had for less than £4000. HTH.

I like the EP3 externally, however, I'm not a fan of the interior, particularly the dashboard. I really like the Gen 8 civics interior but I just wish they made one that had the body kit of the Type R. I've also consider 2012 civic but I'm not sure if I like it enough. If you are willing to have an older car you can get a lot for your money. EP3s are very cheap now and very rated. They both seem to want the same thing, at least the OP isn't deluding themselves in this case.Adamb36 said:
Anybody got a link this other post, having issues finding? Is it in the 'Car buying' section?

How about a Corsa, they do a VXR look a like but with a 1.2 and maybe a 1.4 engine
If not, Twingo 133 or a Skoda Fabria VRS.....the older 1.9 Diesel?
Seat Ibiza, they do a FR 140/150 BHP warm Hatch? Not to sure if too powerful for what you have asked for? They also do a Diesel version - 2.0 TDI FR with 138bhp.
Failing that, the 100BHP Panda...the other guy seemed really keen on this!

Thanks for the all the replies.
I just want to clarify, I'm after the sporty style more than the sporty performance, I know really anything more 120 brake won't be insurable. I'm just after something that will stand out from the plain hatchback and that I will be satisfied with throughout uni.
Interestingly enough to insurance for a 200bhp '07 Honda Civic Type R, £5,000.
Insurance for a '13 300bhp Type R, £1,700. I cant even begin to understand that logic.
Thanks Adam

Vauxhall's are sort of banned in my household, brother had an Astra estate, never again. How about a Corsa, they do a VXR look a like but with a 1.2 and maybe a 1.4 engine

I wouldn't call the panda 'sporty'.
As for the Twingo, love the design but that dashboard though?
I'll have a look at the Skoda
Thanks

Fair play, the Skoda is the one I’d go for, secretly like themI wouldn't call the panda 'sporty'.

Also, the more modern Seat FR Diesel, the 2.0 138bhp lump could be fun
