Hi all, after some suggestions for a new car.

Currently have a 63 plate Ford Fiesta ST-2, with the Mountune 215 upgrade. Still happy with the car, but typically change my car every 3 years or so, and looking now to get something a bit bigger.

So, I'm seeing what suggestions you have for something with similar power and spec, but Focus/Golf sized?

Current considerations are Seat Leon FR 1.8 and VW Scirocco 2.0.

My only criteria are for it to be petrol and manual. I don't necessarily want anything more powerful than my Fiesta due to likely increase in running costs this would incur! I'd be looking around the £17-18k mark for something up to 2 years old, or up to £27k for brand new on a lease scheme.

What else should I consider? Thanks in advance.

Willing to spend that much but not willing to increase running costs? Meh - Ignore the bold bit and get an M140i.

Out of your current considerations mentioned, I'd take the Leon as VW are dropping the Scirocco so you can only order from stock, plus its been left behind in terms of development (still very much a Mk6 Golf underneath and inside)

As it seems you like the VAG stable, look at Golf GT or GTi, or even an Octavia Hatch VRs

Should have clarified my financial position.

I'd have around 17-18k to spend if the car second hand and it would be cash deal. Brand new I say around the £27k mark, but I'd hope to lower this via a broker and decent lease scheme to get it closer to the 22k mark.

Therefore as much as I really like the Golf GTI, and 1-series, they're out of my budget sadly!

The M140i is not that far out of your budget... There are very good deals on new ones available. You just need to head over to Babybmw and look at TRL's section of the forum. A shadow edition is just over £27k I believe. Ok, not close to your 22k budget - but not sure whether your budget is 22k or 27k to be honest!

Used, perhaps something like this?. First one I came across, I'm sure there might be others around that price range.

I know it's more powerful but aside from insurance the running costs shouldn't be that different. Happy to stand corrected though.

Im sure you can get the £500 off smile

There are about 20 cars with varying mileage below this one but this particular one is a 2015 plate.

326bhp, 6 cylinder, RWD is a step above the rest and worth it IMO.

Not sure if you'd have a monthly budget, but I just got a quote for a 2 year lease on the Leon Cupra 300 Estate, manual, 10k miles per year with metallic paint.

£1850 initial and £205/month from Lookers Stockport. Assume hatch/coupe would be cheaper.

That seems very cheap? Is that a lease/contract hire plan?

Not managed to find even the Leon FR that cheap!

Personally don't like the look of the Giulietta from the front. Shame they don't the Brera anymore. My dad used to have one and it was a fantastic car.

Until the front suspension strut snapped......

Straight up lease. The dealer are basically offering to discount the lease using the amount they would pay a broker in commission if you go direct to them. No broker fees for you to pay either - nothing to pay until after taking delivery.

Includes road tax for the term and free delivery in the UK too. Good amount of kit as standard as well - Virtual Cockpit probably being the highlight.

I'd say go for a Leon Cupra the running costs won't be much more than the Fiesta & pretty much on par with the Leon FR.
