I miss MK2 Golf GTIs. Whats 1000kg and around 120hp?
Discussion
My favourite ever car was an '89 Golf GTI 5 door small bumper 8v with no PAS and 14" wheels.
These are very long in the tooth these days.
What is there around 1000kg, with 120hp that steers nicely, max 5 years old?
Must steer well.
Swift Sport?
Fiesta ST or ecoboost 140?
The golf had it all, it was classy and solidly build, I don't think the above are - I would be marked as a boy racer. Any classy choices?

If it can't be more than 5 years old, I'd say a Swift Sport is about as close as you'll get. Driven my brother's several times and they are brilliant, often overlooked because of 'only' having 134bhp, but it has a fantastically well-sorted chassis. Buy one in a dull colour and you'll blend in nicely - don't think they have the boy-racer image a Fiesta ST has.
Depending on budget, you could look at the new Up! GTI as well.

Suzuki Ignis SZ-T...ok, it's only 88hp, but it's also 870kg.
We had one in on test, all the snobs in the office laughed at it repeatedly - I thought it was one of the funnest cars we had in last year.
From memory, it handled decently enough, if not a bit light on the wheel...but it's that edge of grip hilarity at sensible speeds that make it feel like a rocket ship down B roads.
Think we had the 'hybrid' version...which really isn't a hybrid, as it's only equipped with an ISG and an AA battery under the passenger seat, so it could hardly hold a charge, let alone contribute toward forward momentum.
Not sure you'd deem it classy, but then by the same stretch I wouldn't call a MK2 GTI classy....more classless, which I personally think the Ignis nails too.
