£40k new and distinctive
Discussion
I'm thinking its time to start thinking about a change from the RCZ
Wants:
Distinctive looks (ie not a german repmobile, sorry BMW/Merc/Audi fans)
Quick
Good handling
hard top
Ability to fit a pushbike in the boot, removing a wheel is allowed.
PH worthy
Not interested in:
Back seat comfort
Economy, commute is <2miles, I only drive if very wet or need to carry stuff
Transporting a big dog, 2.4 kids, nagging wife etc
Budget £40k, new or <2 years old
I also have a Caterham to cover the sunny days and back road blasting.
Shortlist so far:
Ford Mustang V8
Anything else I should consider?
Boot on GT86/BRZ is too small, MX-5 is too close to the Caterham in concept.

My suggestion seems to tick all of your ‘want’ boxes apart from one, being ‘PH Worthy’Wants:

New Civic Type R
The Mustang is probably your best option, but take a look at the 3 door Leon Cupra 300 (in a vibrant colour it's got a bit more flair than a Golf or 1 series) and Range Rover Evoque Coupe, you can get the 2.0 Si4 petrol, big question mark over PH worthy however. I'm not sure if a bike would fit in but the Nissan 370Z has a proper hatchback boot.
Subaru WRX STI Final Edition are on limited numbers but you may be able to find one, if the bike doesn't fit try a Levorg.

On? Perhaps......
Well since its not just a bike but a pair of these I need to carry:On? Perhaps......
They go on the back of my boat, cost roughly £600 each so cant leave them unsecured.
Roughly the same size as a bike, but more PHers know what size a bike is
So the Caymans out, no matter how nice it is.
Prefer 2 doors over 4, only had anyone in the back of the RCZ a handful of times (no 2.4 kids or big dogs to transport).

Just a suggestion.......would have gone for the F Type myself [2nd hand of course] but it would have to be a very small bike

Just to be clear, any car I like must be differentiated from others in its class by more than a badge or grill.
Kia just screams sad dad trying to forget his 2.4 kids to me, so no thanks

A bike in a cayman?
A mate of mine used to drive Boxsters (he had two or three as company cars over the years). As a keen cyclist, he would carry his mountain bike in the car. Really, I'm not kidding. To be fair, he needed to take both wheels off, and have the frame sitting on the passenger seat, but with a bit of creative packaging, he made it work.
He now drives a Merc C350 CDi Estate. Read into that what you will!
can you find a 2yr old dodge hellcat? might be c£40k. damn distinctive and cool, with boot space.
but there is this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dodge-Challenger-V8-HEM...
