You are the only person who has the information required to generate an insurance quote. Go and get some quotes.

There are cheaper cars to buy and run but if you want one and can afford to buy, insure and run then go for it.

Nice car for your first.

I deal with new drivers often, my advice if you want cheap motoring by the weakest smallest car you can get. for a 1.6 you'll probably end up nearer £2000 a year but it's best you do quotes yourself.

You stated that you had already done the insurance check - so, the A3 is nice, but slightly uninspiring to drive, especially with the dreary 1.6 motor.

As a first car, you might do well to check your insurance quotes smaller, lighter vehicles, that would be more engaging to drive.

Are you proposing to buy or rent? What's yur budget?

yeah i did it was around 2k like the fella above said. i thought it would be nicer to drive than other cars in the price range. budget would be 4k-4.5k (including insurance) and i was gonna buy. cheers
