F Pace or E Pace

Dad is looking at buying himself an F Pace or E Pace, possibly leaning towards the E Pace as its similar in size to his Freelander 2.
Does anyone own or have driven either E or F Pace ? whats the best engine for the real world, i've been looking at the F Pace and think either the 25t or 30d with the auto box would be best in the Portfolio trim with the smallest wheels. Its going to tow a boat so needs a bit of torque although most of his trips will be local.
I've not looked at the E Pace much but diesels are only 2.0litres but i guess the petrols are similar to those in the F Pace. The last Jaguar i drove was a 2.2 XF estate and while it was a nice car i thought it really lacked the V6 diesel to make it a more refined car like a Jaguar should.
There are no other choices, he has always promised himself a Jaguar and feels the time is right, I feel he should go for a Range Rover Sport but that isn't going to happen.
