Is the 1.5 t-sport prone to rust? Currently trying to decide on a car to get.
I know they're not very similar cars but so far on my list are:
Focus St170
Octavia vrs (mk1)
Yaris t-sport
What other cars should I be looking at?
I want something that's quicker than 10 seconds to sixty and can be a bit of fun to drive. I would prefer it to be a hot/warm model. Preferably something that can be had with less than 90k miles and still falls into my budget (£2000)
I've had clio 172/182 suggested but they don't fall into my budget without having 120k miles.
I'm not interested in any BMW within my budget.

They used to be very good against rust, but in recent years i've heard of quite a few rusting quite a bit on the rear sill (just in front of the rear wheel).

I have had 2 recently and they've both had rust in these same places. Quite an easy repair. Overall though they're really good at resisting rust. You don't really see it anywhere else, sometimes they get a little bit on the boot floor where the rubber grommit is.

The car as a whole is great if you want something cheap, reliable, good on fuel and with a *little* bit of power.

You should check out Yaris Club UK on Facebook, there's a group - or a forum that's not very active anymore. I'm the admin of both and its a good community to be in smile

MG ZS 180 probably worth adding to your list.

Why not get the yaris's older brother, the corolla T sport.

Bang on budget even for a facelift model.

Aren’t these particularly expensive to tax?

Not really, £305, not obscene. And very cheap to buy in the first place.

Good shout that. Screaming engine and Toyota reliability. Good value really.

Handling will be much better on the Yaris though. Never driven a Corolla but heard they're pretty wallowy things in the corners and a very narrow power band. I'd much prefer the Yaris, personally.

OP, i've got a very similar list to you for a next cheap car. I wouldn't write off the Clio's, as they can take the mileage and one of the best hot-hatches out there for the money. That's what i'm after!
