What car should I buy for 3k that has at the most a 1.6 turbo engine, that is quick and preferably no older than 2007 unless low mileage. Go!

Suzuki Swift Sport.

One of the suggestions when you asked pretty much the same thing a month or so ago.

Probably looking for something a bit quicker but thank you for the suggestion.

Strange criteria, why nothing bigger than a 1.6? A turbo 1.6 will usually put out more power than a non-turbo 1.8 or 2.0 so why exclude bigger less powerful engines?

It’s virtually impossible to make a sensible recommendation with so little information, what are you looking for in a car, what are your needs, do you do a lot of miles, etc. Without that it’s basically just a game of “what about this?”, “no, that’s not right because of (criteria that no-one knew about)”

For some reason, I can't get decent quotes on anything above 1.6 litre. What i'm looking for in a car is something that is going to last me a couple of years, quick and just a fairly decent car. I will mostly be using the car for trips to and from my college once every week and once or twice to and from the golf course. My apologies I should have clarified that in my original question.

What about a Corsa SRI? The 2007 model had a de-tuned 1.6 turbo from the VXR, i believe, but with 150 bhp.

This is what I am looking at at the minute, they are cheap enough to buy and insurance is very low, so thank you for suggesting this.

Should be cheap to run too. You can always look into remapping it if you get bored of the standard power later on.

No problems mate thumbup

Alfa Romeo Mito 1.4 turbo or Peugeot 207 gt/gti. Although there have been issues with the 1.6 thp engine which is also found in the mini cooper S. No sure if the Cooper S is now under 3k
