Nothing too massive.

They currently have a van, an RX300 and a Passat Estate PD130.

The Passat was/is their caravan car.

MIL wants something higher up for her back.

Lexus was purchased.

MIL just doesn’t like driving thit Lexus. I think as it’s too big plus it’s expensive to run.

So it’s been sat on the drive for 99% of their ownership.

It’s now got a suspension airbag issue and as replacements are £600 (fortunately I can repair it) it’s the final straw and the Lexus is going. Total waste of time.

Anyway they now are taking up my idea of getting shot of both and combining as otherwise there is a taxed insured etc car that sits on the drive doing absolutely nothing.

I personally would sort the Lexus out and use that but they won’t so there we go.

They like the Tiguan but I think a decent auto is a bit out of budget.

Have 5kish I think and they like leather seats.

I found a decent 4wd leather auto Qashqai 2.0DCI.

What else haven’t we thought about?

- 5kish
- Auto is a must
- Low mileage isn’t absolutely critical as long as it’s reliable
- Leather is a good plus point
- Tow 1300kgs worth of caravan

The other option would be a little Petrol fake 4x4 thing and get a bigger van and use that for towing but they don’t want to look like gypos.

Might be a dead post but I was searching for something else and see this on captiva

I own one, a 2.2 diesel auto. Can confirm its brilliant at towing and pulls through anything with the awd as noted in the late snow we had

They are not great on mpg that. 28 average town high 30s on the motorway

BMW X3
Suzuki Grand Vitara
Kia Sportage
Hyundai Tucson
Toyota Rav4
Nissan Xtrail

Along with the CRV, Captiva and Antara as suggested by other contributors.

All should be available in budget with leather and auto. My money would be on a CRV or X trail.
