WBAC - any other alternatives?

Evans Halshaw have a car buying service as do Syntner. I’m about to dispose of my XFR and it’ll go to whichever of those two give me the better price. For my Car Evans Halshaw were about £800-£1k above the WBAC online valuation price and from my younger brother’s experience of selling his Lexus ISF they don’t haggle you down if your car is as you describe it.
Remember that every dealer who sells used cars needs to buy cars for cash too in order to have something to sell.
As a starting point it's always worth asking the garage where you bought the car from if they would be interested in buying it back. If not then look for garages who stock cars of similar type age and mileage to the one that you have for sale.
In these circumstances it's wise to have an idea what a fair price for the car is as you may well be asked what you want for it. The online guides from EH and WBAC will give you some idea.
Of course, all that is time consuming and places like Tootle will give you exposure to dealers looking to buy without having to traipse around each one individually. Still worth exploring though if the car that you have is unusual ( in a good way! ) or if you have an existing relationship of any kind with a garage.

CHAPS is pretty much instant and they will be charged for doing this, we get charged £35 per CHAPS payment by our bank, i know some charge more, it also allows you to drop the car off and then go and pay for your new one and pick it up, so nearly as convient as PX at a dealer

My advice would be to steer clear. They offered more than £1000 more than WBAC, allowed us to book an appointment, when my wife arrived they stated it was a computer error overvaluing it and then said they could only offer £500 less than WBAC had quoted (£1500 less than offered without even viewing the car)https://www.trustedcarbuyers.com/

I don't know about any of those but Gumtree seems to attract buyers. I've had a few adverts on with "No offers" written in massive letters and the only time I've had to knock anything off was when there was a spot of rust I hadn't noticed. WBAC offered me £3850, ended up getting £6100 selling privately on my most recent advert.

I just went on to have a look and they've offered £3052 for my '57 reg 320D E91.looking on the reviews it seems to be a common theme...
I only expected £2k to be offered so I expect I'd be offered a lot less if I took it to them.

Arnold Clark’s car buying service is where I got the best price for my m240i, I tried quite a few places including tootle and a couple of BMW dealers all of whom offered less - the dealers also said they might cut the price based on the amount of tread left on the tyres while Arnold Clark paid the full price offered without any price quibbles.

We've all heard the stories, everybody has a mate who knows a bloke... However, recently needed to shift an ill advised purchase quickly so WBAC online and a value of ~£3500 so I figured they'd knock a bit off despite my honest (and it was honest) appraisal online. Went along to Edinburgh, walked in to what can only be described as a shoddy office set up to be confronted with a WBAC lady arguing with a customer. Car appraised, their offer changed to £2000 because three panels needed painted (minor stone chips and a 4" faint scratch - all of which I disclosed) and the two front alloys needed refurbed and the EML was on... even though it was the "On Call" subscription warning. I think the icing on the cake was being referred to as "doll" numerous times. A professional outfit, it is not.
