I'm considering purchasing one of these magnificent cars, but am stuck over whether I should go for the 32v or pay extra for the later 40v version.
The 40v is more powerful and I believe has a 5 speed box; yet the 32v is more eager to rev due to solid lifters.
Has anyone driven both versions: which is better?
Is one version more reliable than the other?

I have a 52 facelift S8 and it's just awesome. The problem is the gearbox, find one that's had the box rebuilt or save £2.5k to get it done yourself. Never driven a pre facelift but I can't imagine it's better but I believe the gearbox is more reliable, although probably less smooth. Facelift cars just look much better, inside and out. The seats are the best I've ever had in a car and you can bang out 200 miles like it isn't there.
