Has anyone had any experience with a renaultsport twingo, are they any good: how do they handle, easy to park etc...
Thanks

I havent, but lots of magazines have done road tests that would probably answer your questions.

I'd look at the Suzuki Swift instead, probably better spec'd.

Great little cars but not massively well spec'd. Parking is easy but I struggle to drive my wife's comfortably and I am 5ft10.

Thanks I've had a look at some but I would prefer someone on here who has lived with one for years not a matter of days to see how it stands up in daily life.

Magazines sometimes do long term tests as well so might still be worth a look.

I had one, most fun car I've ever had biggrin

Not sure what you're worried about parking, they're hardly an aircraft carrier!

Thank you if you don't mind me asking, how tall are you i'm slightly concerned about my height and the size of the car?

I ran one as a demo for 6 months, mine had a Cup Pack, 2nd best car I've ever ran as a demo, the first being a 182 Cup.

The drivers seat is set to high, a few inches lower would have been perfect but I found it comfy (I'm 5'10"), they are crap on the motorway but anywhere else they are awsome fun, they do lack creature comforts and are noisy.

If I suddenly needed a car, had up to £4k to spend and my commute wasn't predominantly motorways, I would definately be looking for one.

I don't get the comparison that some have with the Swift Sport, admittadly I've never driven one, however I would say that they are completely different cars, appealing to different people, to me the Twingo is raw, the Swift not so.

5'10. Had 4 adults in the car no problem as you can slide the rear seats back for more room. You don't get much boot space then, but it's handy to give extra leg space

I have had mine for over 5 years now and the only car that has lasted more than 2 years as I have never got bored of it.
It's been totally reliable same as the 172/182 make sure the belts and pulleys have been done. The bottom arms are a Renault part only and we're expensive but I believe the price has come down a bit.
I am 6"3 and find mine totally comfortable and can get 40 mpg.
There are a few different versions, standard 133, 133 with cup pack, 133 cup (what I have) 133 gordini (most toys and leather) and sliverstone limited edition.
133 cup has no aircon, 2 speaker cd player, bench rear seat that doesn't slide (all others have 2 single seats that slide) and is the lighter more focused drivers car. The gordini is probably better commute car.
Mine is no longer standard and is being built into a rally car but I have not managed to find a worthy daily so will probably end up with another later on in the year. My car has a thread in reader's rides called the Forgotten Renault Sport it may be of interest.
Feel free to ask any questions.
As someone states above the swift is a less of a car from a drivers point of view. I test drove a swift first and went with the twingo.

Wow thank you for the in depth detail, I'm beginning to think that these twingos are quite good considering all of the reviews about them and thanks avenger286 for the reassurance about the height situation.

What am I doing wrong if I do not find it comfortable? lol. When I sit in it with the seat back as far as it will go I cannot get my knees positioned properly.

Depends on where your height is; body or legs, sounds like your legs are long and your body less so.

Wife's dad is taller than me, I can't get in the seat after he has driven a car as he has short legs so has to pull the seat really close to the wheel.

Had the 1.2 turbo with a powerflow exhaust and a remap, was a hilarious little car with just enough power to make it interesting with the level of grip on offer, the 133 is a more focused car that is by all reports rather excellent! Although likened my 1.2 to a modern 106 rallye
