TT v RX8 v Crossfire or Alternative
Discussion
Looking to get rid of my old Passat estate in the next couple of months and fancy something a bit different.
Trouble is, I only have a budget of £4k, need 4 seats, a bit of boot space and would also prefer an auto.
Top of my list is a mk1 TT, I used to have a 225 and enjoyed it, although I was thinking of the V6 this time.
I've always liked the look of the RX8, although am a little scared of the rotary engine and I don't think it's available as an auto.
Then finally the Crossfire. Not as pretty as the other two, but seems to tick most of the boxes.
Any other cars in a similar vein that I should consider? (Nissan 350Z seems to be out of my price range)
Only having owned one of the cars on my list before, has anyone else had experience of the others and how they compare?
Thanks

Please please please not the Crossfire...RX8 with buggered engine then get Rotary Revs to work their magic.
Any reason? or are we awaiting the Clarkson crapping dog comment / picture?Audi or RX8 will provide far more thrills
Thanks for replies, don't know why I got mixed up thinking the crossfire was a 4 seater, that's off the list
RX8 seems a popular choice!
Shame about the auto option (that'd stop Mrs Bee borrowing it much)
Good shout about the GTV, I'd forgotten about them. V6 engine available in that too!
CLK, looks a bit normal next to the others, but I guess would be the more sensible option.
The rear seats are for the occasional journey when the 3 of us go off together (12 year old son relegated to the back then) he likes the look of the RX8 too, but is fuel economy that much worse than the other cars mentioned?

Yes. Lets put it another way, we bought a Mazda 6 MPS to replace the RX-8 when child #2 came along. It averages 18-19mpg. This is a big improvement on the RX-8

Admittedly part of the issue I always found with the RX-8 (and tbh with the MPS) is an utter inability to drive it economically. I'd start off with the best of intentions but before long it'd end up with a beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep and having fun again.

Also uses oil, not a significant amount but if you're used to cars that never burn a drop it'll be a shock. I checked ours once a month.

The CLK's are good cars & a lot of fun (I should know I have owned a fair few) but the RX8 is more fun but maintenance heavy.
