Renaultsport Megane 265

I currently have a Lotus Elise 111R as a toy and an Audi A3 diesel for work. I never use the Elise so i am thinking about getting rid of it.

I wasn’t sure what to get but after having a passenger ride in a Megane around Oulton Park I was very impressed!

Was just after owners opinions of them good and bad. Anything i should look out for?

Great cars out the box, desirable options are cup chassis which gives you the LSD, Recaro's are nice to have but some owners i've seen have now swapped them for a more focused track day seat such as Recaro Pole Position. RS monitor is also a nice thing to have but not essential.

Quite solid cars, just ensure the cambelt / waterpump has been carried out at a well respected specialist and the hub / swivel joints are made of cheese. Mate of mine had a fully loaded 275 Cup S with Ohline's etc.. and was a cracking car.

That's a bit of an exaggeration - mine are holding up very nicely. But they are probably a service item every 30k miles. Relatively cheap anyway and probably justified considering how sophisticated the front kinematics are, what with the dual axis set up.

Totally agree with your post otherwise - 275 Cup-S are superb value atm.
