Can’t decide what to do.....
Discussion
I’m looking into getting a new car but can’t decide if diesel is the way to go.
Ideally I want to get a VW Touareg R-Line, around 2015-16 reg, it would be ideal for what I need but the diesel rumblings lately are concerning me about putting £25k into a diesel car.
My other option is a BMW 340i touring which aren’t yet in my budget but I’m willing to wait until they are, I’d be choosing the AUC for both options.
What’s the general consensus on how Diesel engines will be treated in the future??

Diesel isn't going anywhere yet. I would have no issues buying a diesel myself, although I would be asking these questions:
Am I doing enough miles to warrant it?
Do I spend a lot of time in city centres?
What's the comparative cost Vs petrol?
If the answers are no, yes and not much id look at a petrol as you may we'll find city pricing diesels out in the near future.
If your plugging up and down the motorway then diesel all day long.

Mileage wise I do about 13-14k a year, mostly a roads with the odd Hampshire -Yorkshire trip thrown in, I live in Hampshire so don’t really go into London etc etc.
Choosing diesel my main concern is potential tax rises on road tax & fuel, I intend on keeping whatever I buy for 5 years at least.
