My horse-owning OH wants something more economical than her current 3-door RAV4 2.0 petrol.

One interesting criterion for the new car is that it must be drivable in wellies (size 5)nuts She'd also want something a bit smaller than the RAV, but this often means a more cramped footwell - hampering said welly access!

Room in the back for a bale of hay would also be useful....

Any ideas??

Why doesn't she take her wellies off?

Thereby broadening your potential choice of cars, also her new car won't smell of horsest.

Win Win.

If the missus doesn't mind an automatic gearbox, cars with two pedals generally have more room in the footwell.

I like autos for many reasons, one being that I can drive in any kind of shoes (I'm a UK 11, and often wear hiking boots).

Something like this? Makes good use of the wellies.

Ha! Sadly, this suggestion didn't go down too well, either:

I was gonna say this, but even a manual, all the controls are actually spaced out fairly well, bit like a van, I can drive it in my size 8 steelies fine. A lot of owners take the back seats out, interior isn't massive but due to its shape there is a lot of useable space, folks will build you a pickup conversion too.
