Looking to buy an R8 max budget is £60,000 not sure if I should get manual or rtronic not sure if convertible or fixed head my previous toys have been TVR 2 chimeras and a Tuscan also had a S4 convertible and M3 E46 convertible
The only thing I am 90% sure of is V10 over V8

Pretty much in the same place as you. I’ve decided R-tronic not for me based on what I’ve read/seen online. I was swaying towards a V10 manual cab but a nice manual V10 coupe has caught my eye and I am going to see it at the weekend.

I’ve taken the plunge. Kingfisher blue V10 manual coupe with carbon blades and buckets, 32K miles and has been lovingly kept. Looking forward to getting my mits on it as soon as the beast from east has fully subsided!

Think he bought one assuming it’s defrosted after the chill last week....

It depends on what you're looking for out of the R8. Personally I'd go for a V10 manual coupe as this will hold it's value well and may go up in value in the future.

I know I should test drive both but don’t like messing people about when it comes to test drives etc, so I try to research as much as possible prior to driving a car so that I know if the car Is as described then I will purchase it don’t like messing people about.
Is the rtronic similar to the e46 M3 SMG as I used to have one of those

Haven’t picked it up yet, will be later in the week before I get the chance....and we’ve still got snow up here in the frozen north! Really looking forward to getting it, been looking at these for a while, Kingfisher is not a standard colour, I wasn’t sure until I saw it but it does look great in the flesh and the Carbon blades set it off nicely. Love the buckets too, very few of them that I’ve seen with those.

Very nice and a rarer colour /seat option. I love the blues on a R8.

I found in drive the gearbox was shocking, you could almost see time pass as it took the car out of gear, put the clutch in, changed gear let the clutch out the gearbox in a 1.2 Fiat 500 dualogic is more impressive and they are bad. In sport or by paddles it was a little better.

I would pick an F Type eveytime over the V8 R8.

Manual solves all those probs. Jag is nice but still a bit "old manish" no disrespect intended.
