Hi All,

Friend is moving to Scotland and is taking her vehicle up with her, She is based in Crawley at present.

She doesn't want to make the long drive up, so is going to arrange for some quotes.... I checked for her through the anyvan site and prices come up between £350 - £450 for collection and delivery...

Any other sites that people could recommend ?

Thanks!

You could try a dedicated car moving firm.

One I’ve used before is J&A transporters (to match your username) who are very good.

Where in Scotland is she moving to? I regularly do South London to central belt in Scotland and it’s a doddle if you time it right.

If money no object then I’m sure there’s an answer, but personally I’d find a nice hotel half way up and book that - split the journey over two days and should be a whole lot cheaper. Even better if you can find a deal on one of those hotel & spa places!

Why do some people even have a licence - have to seriously question whether people like this should have one - hardly a long or difficult journey

Exactly.

Do it on a Saturday or Sunday, less traffic - maybe even do an overnight stop in a spa hotel or something. Fuel, Hotel & Food will be far cheaper than a car transport service!

Might be scared of the motorways. Or likely to get lost etc.

Offer to drive it for her? idea

I flew down to Stanstead and drove my Mother's 1.6 Y reg Civic up. All it cost was the 10£ Ryanair fare from Prestwick. Crap car BTW. Mum and Dad were retiring up here in Galloway.

OP drive it up for her and fly back down or find a friend to do it with Dayinsure or similar cover.

I would do this, driving in one go is a bit of a pain but over 2 days with a nice stop would be fine.
