I’m toying with the idea of selling the 640d and buying a new SQ5.
I’m recently engaged and hoping to have kids in say 18 months.
Whilst I do like the 640d the suspension, ride, visibility & practically are all very poor. Though it does look nice and has a good balance of running costs vs power
The lease deals are about £21k for a 3 year period @ 8k pa. I do about 20k pa which makes it expensive.
Carwow shows that dealers are offering up to 10% off a new one with about £7k of options. Which oddly are better value than a used model.
I do like a Diesel engines’ ability to blend performance with economy but would much prefer a petrol engine for its sound and smoothness.
I’d love to know what residuals are to expected on these.
Does anyone have any ownership experiences with the new SQ5.

A customer of mine has just swapped his Q7 for a new SQ5, he told me he got a very keen deal from his dealer. I haven't been in it but it sounds great when he pulls away...
There’s certainly a bit of fakery there.I’d prefer an SQ7 but they are too much money.
My only concern is it’s small size, they look a bit weedy up close.
Not had a new car before, or even close, but there’s not enough of a saving to justify a used one over a new one, also the used ones just don’t seem to have my preferred option mix.
I have a couple of customers with them & they're happy with them but less so with the fuel usage (they traded from the previous SQ5 & are disappointed with the true mpg) but that's just the way it goes.
They haven't sold as well as the previous model (due to being petrol) so dealers are now starting to do some good deals on new models, also there's also a cracking deal on the Audi S8 at the moment (£560.00 per month Lease) but it's coming to an end shortly.

I’d imagine the petrol would put many off.
The increased economy and effortless acceleration are nice.
Whilst I do love the noise and smoothness of a petrol. It is nice to be able to put your foot down without any fuss or loud exhaust noise.
I’m half tempted to hang on for the diesel version.
I recently had a loan 640i and loved it compared to my 640d

Thanks. You sound like a man in the know, any info on residuals?
Better to lease and just hand back at the end of term. This gives you piece of mind and a fresh start when it's time to change.
Just for giggles and a very quick look. You could get cheaper.
Audi SQ5
£542.26 per Month
24 Month lease
£3,493.00 deposit
10,000 miles a year.
£16,000 for two years but that must be close to depreciation figures anyway.

I looked at swapping the 640d for a SQ5, but I was a little disappointed that it was only available as a petrol now. I do around 30k miles a year so the diesel made more sense for me I thought, and that is what I loved so much about the 640d...its great performance/economy mix. The increased economy and effortless acceleration are nice.

Like you I much prefer petrol but once you start pushing on in a heavy car the petrols do get pretty thirsty in my experience. So I thought it was a bold move for Audi to ditch the SQ5 diesel and go petrol, but I suppose they're actually ahead of the game in fairness.

Then again a 34mpg official MPG isn’t too bad. Though it won’t do anywhere near that, it’s a starting point.

bit of a post resurrect, mine was pre-WLTP. I would of preferred an SQ7 too https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/8.gif
I can average over 30mpg on a good run.
