My previous lease car was due to be collected on the 28th Feb, due to the snow it was picked up on the 6th March. Since then I've heard absolutely nothing. The guy who drove it away was supposed to email me his final inspection report, that never arrived. VWFS owe me most of month's payment as the car was returned part way through the month, and I owe them £36 for a scuffed wheel and a bit more for some excess mileage.

Overall I probably owe them about £50 more than they owe me, so I'm not worried about chasing them, just wondered how long this usually takes to complete? I'm surprised I haven't even had a letter or email saying 'we've got the car back, a final statement/invoice will follow'.

Returned my wife's car 9 months ago with £40 of damage. Not heard a thing. With certain companies there may be a threshold that their man hours to process the charges cost more than the actual charges, so they let it go.

Why would VWFS owe you most of a months payment?

Because I'd gone over the original 24 month agreement, and extended it twice, by a month each time, while I was waiting for the new car to arrive - they were charging me on a pro rata basis.

Mine was collected end of Jan (terminated 3 months early paying 50% of remainder). I was over the pro rata mileage by 3,500 miles so was told there would be a ~£250 charge plus a £30 scuff.

Was told it was too late to stop the normal Feb payment going out and they would refund it straight away when it did. Didn't trust that to happen so stopped the DD and it didn't go out. Cue them now sending 3 reminders for a payment I don't owe.

Still no bill for the mileage or scuff, the inspection being 8 weeks ago now.

When I call them up they just give a standard line that haven't finalised the account yet.

If they were a government department we'd be shouting for them to be shut down

I early terminated mine with VWFS earlier this week, I’m about 11 miles over the pro rata allowance but the car is immaculate so wandering if they will bill be for the 90p mileage :-) strangely they are inspecting Tuesday and collecting 2 days later, sending it to bruntingthorpe they said

Thought I'd update this thread - after radio silence from VWFS for over 6 weeks I finally got two separate 'final statements' from them. One for £50 for excess mileage and one for -£140 for the part-month rental they owed me. No mention of the wheel scuff at all - I'm £36 better off than I thought I would be. So that's that then.

No idea why it took so long as the car was sold by Manaheim auction in March and was on the forecourt of a SEAT dealer in Swansea last time I checked.

Manheim collected my vehicle too. I had a minor curb rash mark on 1 alloy, the tiniest of dent (i literally couldn't even pick it up on my camera up close it was that small) from where someones door touched mine probably in a supermarket carpark somewhere and a bit of paint mark on the side mirror where someone came a bit too close with their side mirror. I was able to scratch that off but they would't remove it from the bill! in all they charged me over £150! I've been waiting about 2 weeks now but I've not recieved the actual invoice from the finance company

Only correspondence I have had is from VWFS to say I owe them for a months payment as I had cancelled my DD.

Called them and explained THEY cancelled my DD as the car was paid in full, she sad she could see that and would speak to Experian to stop the black mark on my credit file, perfect as I'm going for a re mortgage in a few months.

Not heard abut my mileage yet.
