I was wondering if any one has had any dealings with Motorpoint and how you found them, I'm looking at changing my old car later in the year and looking at maybe a Golf R or maybe a 3 or 4 series BMW.

The prices for the Golf R seem very good and many thousands under VW main dealers, would the Golf be ex rental?, some of the miles are really low, sub 5000 in some cases?

I tend to keep my cars for many miles and many years now days but wondered if you had any views?

main dealers sell ex-rentals too. mixed views on how bad a thing this can be but if the mileage is as low as 5k it probably isn't a big deal. supermarket cars can be non-UK spec so you need to watch out for that too. they should be able to tell you who the previous owner is on the v5.

I went and looked at a car a year or so back, another ST and was impressed. Good selection of cars, well priced, no pressure, free bacon sarnies, same px as main dealers but lower price. Kept my car but would have bought there - Newport, South Wales

I do think I will be going to look, the R's seem to be around 5K plus cheaper than main dealers and thats a lot of money!

Not sure why people are so wary of ex-rental cars, had and been in loads and cant say I have seen anyone being really rough with one for the sake of it, most of the time you cant rag stuff due to traffic, modern cars can cope anyway.

Motorpoint seem to have a good rep and prices always seem to be fairly keen.

I got my wife's old S Max there, it had less than 1000 miles on the clock, it was £8,000 cheaper than buying a brand new car, totally immaculate, all the options we wanted, main dealer warranty etc.

The only down side was the car was an ex rental, but we kept it for 4 years and it was the most reliable car we've ever owned.

I'd buy from them again if I ever needed to.

Get down to BCA and buy one of the numerous ex VW finance Rs there and save a fortune. Most Motorpoint second hand stuff is from either BCA or Mannheim anyway.

Alternatively go on Carwow for a huge discount on a new one.

I bought a Quashqai from their Newport branch. Overall good experience, car was decent, as described. Price was fair I felt and got a reasonable part ex on mine. No high pressure selling of unecessary bolts ons. I would buy from them again.

Cheers for all the reply's, they do seem worth the look, and they do seem to be happy moving their car's around for you as well.

I'm doing around 25 to 30 K a year now days so the car would be long term ownership for around 5 years and 150K miles, it would be nice to get out of a diesel.......

Bought an i10 from Chingford. A '16 plate so will be coming up to 2 years old in three weeks.

Good experience, no pressure selling.

Was an ex-rental car but nothing wrong with ex-rental cars as hirers are compelled to look after them otherwise they get stung for extra charges. The alloys were immaculate/un-scuffed/un-kerbed. They may even have been replaced.

Would buy again.

Have used MP in the last for a run around, it was ok as a purchase process - car is still running without fault, price was under dealer prices etc.

I collect vehicles when they are being defleeted from the company that picks you up. I can count on one hand the number of these vehicles I would consider purchasing with my own money.

They have been buying a few second hand MK7 Golf GTI and GTD for use with VW assistance.

Motorpoint do buy plenty from them and get deep discounts, after all someone has to pay for the wheel refurbs, new tyres, used/missing tyre inflation kit/spare wheel/trims/locking nut key, internal/external damage, missing books, missing satnav SD cards, new windscreens, missing trim/parts, lack of servicing etc.
