Looking for a new car, have about £4,000 to spend, don't have a great deal in reserve to spend on insurance, about £800 max for the insurance.

What I'm looking for is something that can get to 60 in under 9 seconds, not bothered about top end as i'll never be going anywhere near it, more into the acceleration, just something with a bit of poke.

I currently have a 1.4 diesel fiesta that gets to 60 in 15 seconds, just for a bit of background.

Only car i have to rule out in advance is a MX5, as I'm a tall guy, i can't actually fit in one. Sorry guys!

Thank you for all suggestions in advance.

Warm super mini like a Panda 100hp, Suzuki Ignis Sport, etc. would be my suggestion.

Twingo 133 is a nice balance in terms of fun and being cheap to run. I'd say a Clio 182 but insurance may be a killer at 19.

The Twingo only has 130bhp but I think a sharper chassis and I think looks great, plus it's light. Plenty to choose from too. smile

A Twingo 133 is a good shout providing that the insurance costs aren't crippling; they are great fun.

Providing that you fit, of course!

Has to be the PH favorite Suzuki Swift Sport and you should be able to get a decent one for around £2500.

I'm 6'1 and found it ok, not something you'd do hundreds of motorway miles but still good for a good blast.

Might be a bit old man but look at a mondeo mk4. The insurance for our age is dirt cheap especially with ncb and the 2.2 diesel is quite quick at around 170bhp?

You might struggle with 800 for insurance, better spending less on the car and allow a bit more for insurance. When I was 19 I bought a 1.6 mx5 and that cost 1500 to insure fully comp and that was 9.7 to 60.

Maybe try a swift sport, anything out of the ordinary is usually better for insurance so not ibiza fr or fiesta st. How about a small turbo engine and then some tuning, I don't know what options this idea gives but it might be a way to keep insurance low.
