So my dad has changed his job and is looking at an 06 one that is close by for his budget. Any advice on one of these? This is the car in question:

great car, seems a bit over priced - in 2010 i think they had a facelift of sorts and got rid of the retro cassette.

There are not many SE-L models available, only 10 on AT. It does seem highly priced. I am sure a bit of bargaining can be had. Any issues to look out for? Does anyone own one?

Had one for 3 months. Had to return it to dealer after it had problems they wouldn't fix.

Mine was on 135k. 57 plate

First problem was the soft close boot didn't close properly. Only intermittent but meant I had to be careful where I parked it.

Airbag warning light was on and stayed on

"Check hybrid system" warning light came on. This really worried me. Ended up backing it after they couldn't fix this

The dealer struggled to fix it because Lexi are harder to work on than Audi/BMW/Mercedes. I was told they needed special tools for this car. This experience really put me off Lexus which was a shame

If you buy one, make sure it is under 10 years and under 140k miles. You can buy a Lexus warranty for £1100 for 24 months which will even cover you if you need a new battery (~4k).

You can get a reconditoned battery for £800 or so though

Mine was an SEL. The Mark Levinson sound system was great, better than Harmon Kardon in an 18 plate BMW I thought

Oh and very quick car too biggrin

Thanks for that, the issue is finding one that's 10 years, I have found another one: https://www.sytner.co.uk/bmw/car-search/8464012-10...

Its a lot more money, but maybe its worth it?

looked into these, being a Lexus relaibility is a given as long as it has its regular servicing - the battery pack needs attention as it can be costly but there are fixes to replace dud cells in the battery pack.

you dont need to spend that much to fix a battery issue, you can replace weak cells and it wont cost much at all, aside from your own time - of course you need to know what you are doing.

One in Lexus with their guarantee. I was thinking about one but can’t stick something with a cassette hole but without a DAB

Thanks for that, bit too far I’m afraid.
