Looking to replace my car and struggling to decide what to get.

Budget is 20k I could push to 25.

Been looking at 420d but because I have kids it would need to be gran coupe which I’m not sure defeats the point of the 4 series

The other option is an SUV but to me the only point of SUV is a 7 seater and Q7, x5 and XC90 our of budget which leaves disco sport, xtrail, Kodiaq or tiguain allspace.. all of which I think are ok but engines lacking a bit of speed.

Still not sure what to do and need help. I know jack st about fixing cars so ideally oldest I want to go is 2016

Have a look at 335d Tourings? Quite a few 2016’s for less than £20000 on Autotrader. For £22000-25000 there’s a few BMW Approved cars too! All with the added benefit of xDrive of course, with 40mpg easily within reach.

How many kids? If it's only 2, why bother with 7-seaters

Figure the kids will want friends and family to join us on trips in coming years.

Im torn between what i should do.

I do like the 4 series GC

S-Max, no question!

It may lack a bit of polish compared to a 640 Grand Coupe but as a family car, nothing can touch it. For £25k you can get a Titanium Sport X Pack with all the toys. They are a great drive as well.

I've got 3 kids and we use the third row from time to time. Sometimes to just separate them, but often to ferrying them and all their mates around. However the space in the S-Max is a godsend - karting all their crap around, bikes/sports kit/school bags etc, plus it doubles as a changing room and picnic spot too!

The bi turbo diesel is really torquey as you'd expect but I went for the 240 bhp petrol and love it.
