Hi all!

I had my Fiesta ST stolen a few weeks back after only two weeks of owner ship frown

Before anybody says I had relocated the ODB and a disclock was on the list for payday! but hey ho if they want it they will have it.
In short my insurance has gone up to almost £3k on another ST so it is out of the question.

I am struggling for things to get - I want something in the same bracket however i am open to other suggestions.

I drove an Abart 595 Comp on Saturday and loved it however I don't know how it will be for long journeys etc...

TIA

Peugeot 208GTI? Mini Cooper S? They're both supposed to be quite good, aren't they?

I went and had a look at a Mini Cooper S - It was really nice, a little bit expensive but nice!

Thought about a GTi but I am not too keen on the interior and my insurance was rather high

Budget?

Have you considered an Abarth Grande Punto? The EsseEsse version has 180 from a 1.4 Turbo, sounds really good! Roomier than a 500 and rarer, and kinda cool too. Built unlike Puntos of old, and go well too.

Off topic where was it stolen from? Area? Any idea how? Was it keys taken or kessy coded?

Also what was it like to drive as a daily, thinking of getting a 2016 model for my daily 110mile commute.

You say you want similar but then say no to all the obvious recommendations because the insurance is high on those too... so what do you want lol? Can't be another hot hatch... what about something like a GT86?

I am saying no to the ones I cant insure, Fabia VRS, Abarth 595 are fine on insurance.... a little higher that what I was paying but still not too bad.
I am asking because people may have recommendations - I am open to other things also.

I have looked at GT86 but they are a little above budget

Budget is around £14K but less if possible, something as new as possible.

I hadn't thought about the alfa - that is a nice example.

It was south birmingham, I am from Worcester but had gone to the cinema come out of the car park and it was gone.
I have both keys still. I work for a Ford dealer, and as much as i loved the car I would say if you are going to get one do all you can to security.

In the two weeks I had it I averaged less than 30MPG and that was reasonable driving. If I were you i'd look into a slightly older 2014 ish focus ST Diesel or a golf gtd etc

I do agree with you, I have heard some bad things about the engines though - do you know what they are like to drive?

Had a DS3 THP in the household until late last year - absolutely awful car, old school turbo lag, horrible steering - was economical though

Test drove an Abarth 595 late last year as a potential replacement for my M135i - had it for 1/2 day as I was concerned about ride comfort, noise levels etc - on the toughest possible test - concrete motorway - it was noticeably quieter than the BMW and if irt hadn't have been for getting another dog it would have been ordered - a great car

Not driven one, though was considering it before I went for a Swift Sport (amazing economy and lots of fun, but not particularly quick). They share the "Prince" engine with the Mini Cooper S which had a reputation for timing chain problems but from what I could tell the later engines are much better.

Really? I love the M135i, could never imagine someone would change out of one for an abarth!

Coming to end of the lease and tbh would not have another - I have enjoyed it but its a seriously flawed car - perhaps why I liked the Abarth so much - its not the best in class but has a distinct character that is lacking in so many new cars

Thanks for this, My commute will be into Birmingham, MPG is less concerning as I get mileage, I suppose the best thing for this kind of theft is a AWG or simple disklok.

What year was the one you had? And how was ride etc? baring in mind it would be a 110miles a day daily.

Isn't your insurance still running for the remainder of that year at the same price? So that you may get continued cover for anything less than or equal to value/risk of the ST?
