Citroen DS3 1.6 THP 150 Reliability
Discussion
Hi everyone.
Currently looking at getting a 2010/11 Citroen DS3 1.6 THP DSport 150.
Whats the reliability like on them?
Have heard a few stories about the engine side of things not going very well with the engine, but is this just internet talk and everyone jumps on the bandwagon or is it an actual problem thats widespread?
My price range is up to 5K, so will be looking at one with about 50,000 miles on the clock.
Any info/experience would be greatly appreciated.

I bought an 18mth old 2007 Peugeot 207 GT 1.6 THP back in 2008 and had numerous power loss issues which the dealer tried to resolve with software downloads. It ended up needing a new engine under warranty at 20k miles due to no compression. I didn't have an issue with the new engine and put another 20k on that. I did a lot of research on issues with these engines when I was having problems with mine and there were a number of people having problems with earlier 207 GT, GTI's and the R56 Mini Cooper S. Apparently the issues were ironed out on the cars built after 2010.
When I was looking for a small-medium hatchback I considered DS3 1.6T but quickly rejected it on grounds of engine problems which are (or were) widely documented on PSA groups.
Even Honest John has commented on the mounting list of premature engine problems (he explicitly mentions turbo, water pump and coking on cars only a few years old).
That's probably why they're quite cheap.
