Superb Estate vs A6 Avant
Discussion
I'm in the market for a newish large boat for towing and have narrowed it down to one of the large German estates. So far I've looked at a Superb Sportline and an A6 Quattro S-Line. Both are 2.0 TDI, both are auto, both are a similar price/age and both have similar levels of equipment.
Are there any reasons to go one way or the other one what is essentially the same car underneath?

I really like Skoda as a brand and like the Octavia, Superb and Fabia. Amazing value compared with their rivals and good quality cars known for their reliability. That being said, the key with Skoda has been what good value they represent compared with their German rivals (I know it's all VAG anyway). So if I was faced with an Audi or Skoda in similar spec and age etc I think I'd be leaning towards the Audi. I think it will have stronger residuals long term and short term you get to drive around in something more 'premium' even if it is just the same car in a fancy frock. Servicing might be worth considering though as I'm sure Audi will be more expensive if you get it serviced at a main dealer.
I considered both of these, depending on what your budget is, it is worth considering the current Passat estate as well.
I found a well spec'd one, nicer place to be than the Superb and more modern that the A6, unless of course you're looking at the newly released A6. Size wise, the Passat is a bit of a tardis, which I think might be due to it being on the MQB platform.

As above, i had a similar choice, Skoda Supurb or Audi A6 (Saloon). Chose the later. Skoda was good to drive but not as refined as the Audi. It was the 150 lump in the Skoda compared to the 190 in the Audi but ride and comfort were far superior in the Audi.
If you are buying, think of residuals, if leasing, you think of the lower cost I guess, although it was only an extra £20 a month difference to lease the A6 S-Line that it was the Skoda SEL Executive, so went with the Audi.
Wife and kids commented that the seats the rear of the Skoda were quite hard and not comfortable. My wife fell asleep in the back of the A6 on the test drive - in the 16 years I have been with her, she has never fallen asleep in a car until that point.
