So.............
I have a Discovery Sport as my company car which I need to slow the miles up on.
My GF has an Audi TTs which is fun but doesn't set me alight.

I want a fast practical car to use for the weekends to ferry us and a lot of gear to Shooting competitions in the UK and Europe.
Not worried about MPG.

So the shortlist is

Land Rover Range Robber L322 Vogue 4.4 or 4.2SC
Audi S4 Avant 4.2

Budget 5k

I am I mad
Stick with the TT and bare it, extend contract miles or Buy a V8

If the Disco is a company car why worry about mileage?

BMW 335i touring?

No chance I would buy an L322 for this sort of budget. The air suspension particularly can be extremely expensive (mainly the compressor)
If you do decide on one go for an 05 or later car as this is when ford implemented a lot of underneath changes to make it a lot more reliable

How many extra miles will the £5K get you on your contract?
You'll have peace of mind from the Disco Sport being a newer car (under warranty) and not have to worry about punting it on after you are done with it.

CLK 500 the rear seats fold should you need more room, they have a large boot as standard also it's something different from the Discovery Sport & it has a V8 with some simple mods Xpipe/air filter & a remap (mainly to improve the throttle response as well as getting an extra few horses.

Maintenance wise the thing to look out for on these is that the gearbox fluid & filters have been changed (every 40k) & then there's the spark plug change which isn't expensive labour wise but there are 16 of them, unlike the S4 there are no timing chain issues.

I would 100% go for the Audi S4 (B7 Saloon). A family member of mine had one and it was so so fun blasting round in it. Even though it's naturally aspirated there's about a half a second delay after you plant your foot then it just kicks you back in yer seat. The V8 sounds amazing, if it was me I'd of put a Miltek exhaust on it and chipped it. The chip would bring it to about 380-400 bhp from 343 and having a Miltek exhaust to exercise that noise would be out of this world.
HOWEVER I will warn you on one thing about it, at around 100,000 miles clocked on these S4s they tend to have a problem with the Cam-Belt/timing chain. It costs nearly as much as the car to fix so if you're gonna get a used one around that mileage I'd change that bit out straight away or just not buy one in the first place.

If you want to have a look for another kind of weekend car with a lot of power and excitement I'd take a look at this bargain I've just found.
