New car dilemma!
Discussion
Afternoon everyone,
My Porsche 997 has been collected so I am now left with a works van to run round in and on the look out for a new car ASAP.
I am in a bit of a dilemma at the moment on what route to go down, I have the cash from the Porsche in the bank so I could go out and purchase a used car for around the £27k mark straight away and just leave the personal loan on going (which I had for the Porsche).
However I am looking to free up some money at the moment for a new project so have been considering a PCP deal so I can keep the payments similar and maybe put down a couple of thousand deposit. I have found a 2014 Range Rover sport Autobiography Dynamic local to me at a land rover dealer ship, after speaking to a broker we have got this down to £380 a month based on a £2k deposit and 12k mileage. The balloon payment is high (circa 35k) so I wont be buying afterwards but can hand it back. Short term I am thinking this is a good option as its a small deposit and lower payments than I pay now on the 997 loan.
However on the other hand if I buy something for around the £27k mark I will own it in about 3 years when the loan is paid off, I have been looking at an RS4 avant. I know its worlds apart from the RR Sport but my only requirements are a big car (4x4 or estate) with reasonable power and mileage.
My other option is to see how much an RS4 is on PCP as I would imagine the balloon payment will be circa £12k in a couple/three years which is easily achievable and I could then buy it outright, it just gives me a bit of breathing space at the moment.
Just looking for some pointers on rates, the best PCP rate I have been offered if 5.9%. Does this sound reasonable?
Also if anyone else knows of any cars which are coming back cheap on PCP feel free to chip in (used cars). I need something with a reasonable balloon amount to keep the monthly figures low. The RR Sport really hold their money which is why it is so cheap.
Any advice appreciated.
